Hawks Prospects McKenzie and Czaikowski Named to Team Alberta U16

Czaikowski
Forward Sklyer McKenzie and Defenseman Carter Czaikowski announced on their twitter pages yesterday that they have been named to the Team Alberta U-16 team for the Western Canada Challenge Cup.

Both Czaikowski and McKenzie were signed by the Winterhawks in August and are not eligible to play on the Hawks until next season, as they are 1998 born players. They were both taken in the later rounds of the 2013 Bantam Draft (McKenzie 8th round, Czaikowski 6th).

The U16 Challenge Cup is a showcase game for the most talented 15 year old players in the 4 Western Provines (B.C, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba). The tournament between the 4 provinical teams will be played October 31st-November 3rd in Calgary, Alberta.

Getting 2 players in this game is a bit of a coup for the Hawks, as they were not allowed to pick in the first 5 rounds this year, due to sanctions and still seemed to havbe magaged to get 2 very talented Canadian players.
